Vera Lutter (Kaiserslautern, Germany, 1960) studied sculpture at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Munich before earning an MFA in photography from the School of Visual Arts in New York. Since the mid 1990s, her work has been exhibited internationally at institutions including The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), New York; The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; Kunsthaus Graz, Austria; and the New Orleans Museum of Art (NOMA), among others.
Her photographs are held in major public collections including The Museum of Modern Art, New York; Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York; Los Angeles County Museum of Art; San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA); Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris; The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; and the Whitney Museum of American Art, among others.
