Parra & Romero is pleased to present the new group exhibition in our space in Madrid with some of our most historic artists: Robert Barry, Luis Camnitzer and Ian Wallace.
The work of these three artists have something in common: their interest in capturing, through words, photography or making use of both, the social, political and cultural reality of their context. Wittgenstein argued that the limits of language are the limits of the world but this proposition can be nuanced. The word is a brief and concise gesture that, in isolation, can generate diversity of discourses and multiple readings. Thus, the artista obliges the receiver not to be pasive. As Baudelaire pointed out, the same word or the same image can transmit completely different sensations to different people. It’s not unusual to associate images with specific concepts, words or phrases. There are landscapes, motifs and objects that bring concrete experiences to us.
From these three coordinates, Words and deeds reflects on that fuzzy limit between the intentionality of the word and the forcefulness of facts through works where this dichotomy is questioned.
